DreamWay Gateway

At the heart of the DreamWatts system sits the DreamWay Gateway.  This small, intelligent controller, about the size of your typical Internet router, wirelessly communicates with the various DreamWatts certified devices installed on premise.  The DreamWay Core software manages the on-site Zigbee® mesh network, maintaining network security and insuring that only user confirmed devices access the network. It also maintains the device network, even if your Internet connection drops and also continues to store device data using its onboard memory.  Since we don’t use your Wi-Fi network, we don’t fail if it does.  Reliability is built in.

The gateway is a snap to install.  Simply connect the gateway’s Ethernet port to a spare Ethernet connection on your router or modem.  Then, plug the power supply into a standard power outlet.  That’s it.  You are now ready to install devices and set up your DreamWatts account. Simple.

For larger installations, multiple Gateways can easily be added to the same user account making DreamWatts fully scalable.

VersaLynx Technology

Critical to the DreamWay Gateway’s ease of installation is VersaLynx technology.  VersaLynx does not require punching holes through a firewall for a constantly open port; it does not require the assignment of a static IP address from your IT department; it does not require you to load software on a server or computer.  What is needed is a standard, broadband Internet connection and a dynamically assigned IP address.  That’s it. Simple.

VersaLynx technology is an essential component to the network’s security.  Using VersaLynx technology, the Gateway calls home to the Data Center by briefly opening standard Internet ports 80 or 443 (typically for less than 1/4th of a second), sending up data and pulling down any pending commands. The port is then immediately closed. For PowerMand Data Center commands to be accepted and understood by the Gateway. the DreamWay Gateway’s unique MAC address must be registered with the data center.  This is done during account setup.
